What leaves your machine?
In normal runtime use, your document content, prompts, chats, and outputs are designed to remain local. Model downloads and payment checkout are separate user-initiated flows outside the private workspace runtime.
Honest limitations
- Local model quality depends on the model you install.
- Local inference speed depends on your hardware.
- If your OS, browser, or device is compromised, no app can guarantee secrecy.
- Scanned PDFs may require local OCR, which is not included in this build.
- You are responsible for what you import.

Does my data leave my computer?
The private workspace is designed so your imported documents, prompts, chats, and outputs remain local. AI inference runs through your local model runtime. Payment checkout and model downloads are separate user-initiated flows outside the private workspace runtime.
Do I need Ollama?
The current build uses a local model runtime such as Ollama. The app checks whether your local engine is running and guides you through setup.
Is Attow open source?
Attow is source-available under commercial terms. It is not open source before the Change Date described in the license.
What file types are supported?
TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, selectable-text PDF, and DOCX are supported. Extraction happens locally on this device. Scanned PDF OCR is not included in this build.
What happens if I forget my vault password?
Attow cannot recover it. Your vault is encrypted locally, and the password is not stored.
Is this legal, medical, or financial advice?
No. Attow is an AI-assisted workspace for private reasoning and document review. Professional outputs should be verified by qualified experts.
How is this different from LM Studio or GPT4All?
Attow is not a model playground. It is a private workspace with encrypted vault storage, selected-file context, Privacy Proof, and professional workflows.
